A beautiful essay on the human relationship with nature, declaring that historically humans have always seen nature as an ‘other’, to be named, used, described. Yet, we miss the experience and namelessness when in the woods, amongst indefensible, stoic, living other.

I’ll be rereading it many times.

A surprisingly easy read on the history of scurvy, a very good introduction for someone like myself who’s very ignorant of it.

Some parts were quite repetitive, almost like sentences were copied from one part of the story to another. Outside of this, great read and historical significance/impact of the ailment.

Easily the best book I’ve read all year. Best review I can think of: read it.
