spooky and kinda funny? very well written though i wanna read more of her work for sure 

don't think i would have read this if it weren't for the book club i read it for but overall it was a good read I just didn't feel very connected to the characters or the story

so fucking beautifully written my god james baldwin was a master of his craft
such beautiful characters, such meaningful relationships..... im literally mourning the loss of arthur and the loss of finishing this book ugh 

god i can't wait to reread this.

didn't personally love her writing style, it was a little too clunky and casual ("sounds fake" was so weird to see in a book) and the writing during the 1800s scenes sounded like modern 2020's conversation like there were no attempts to make it fit into the timeline. but I did like the story itself and i loved the relationships so i stuck around to the end. 

idk why i love nino so much he's such a fuckboy but god my hearttttt

well written and enjoyable, good story of friendship 

god the miscommunications were so frustrating i wanted to just grab them and scream. but the tension and energy bw the 2 of them was so good. i didn't really like the whole submissiveness part of their relationship towards the end? and just ugh ending on miscommunication was so frustrating. wherever they are rn i just hope they're happy
