3.5 stars. I'm still invested and want to continue the series, but this particular volume had a little bit of a pacing issue for me. The narrative kind of jumps around and doesn't really move very far for the length. It was a bit of a frustrating read, though there was a bit of character progression. Really it felt like there wasn't as much time and care put into this volume as the first.
Seanan McGuire is incredibly talented and I will read anything she would like to write...preferably another twenty or so in this series, they're magical. I love the inclusion and the supportive nature of the characters. I love the worlds that we continue to be allowed to explore.
I think Jack & Jill's plot is my favorite of this series. The darkness that comes out in these books is perfection and I crave it. The atmospheric writing never disappoints and I really enjoy the twisted fairy tale feel. Usually I'm not satisfied by novellas, but that has not been the case in this series. I finish each book as in love with the concept and the characters as when I began. Yes, I want more, but I'm content with where each little tale wraps up. They feel complete.

This series continues to just get me. The ratings fluctuate from volume to volume, but I just find everything about this incredibly wholesome, adorable, and authentic. It's a comfort read for sure. I love these characters way too much.
