This is the definition of a "what the eff did I just read" item. Interesting concept that goes way off its rocker. Someone else compared it to Dexter meets Gilmore Girls and I agree. The other comparisons to killer Calico Critters or an excessively dark Richard Scarry are also on point.
When I started my reading list for this year did I think that murderous anthropomorphic animals would be on my list? No. Am I completely intrigued and going to binge the remaining five installments when volume 1 is released later this month? Yep.
Sometimes a completely random pick just works out I guess...even when you find yourself horribly disturbed and questioning your own sanity throughout the entire read.

I loved this book. Though the storyline was sometimes difficult to stomach, it is very beautifully written. The characters are extremely well developed. I hated David from about page 5 though I somewhat understood his motives. I found a high respect for Caroline and just felt sorry for Norah. The story fits well in it's time period and there are many little details that show that the author did her research. I couldn't put this book down and became emotionally invested in the story within a few pages.
