This book is so cute!!!!! I love how cute Simon's crush on Blue is and I actually like it better when they still didn't know each other's real identity. Somehow I think when they finally figured it out and ended up being together the book became 100x less fun. What can I say, I love the mystery and I hate relationship. Overall, a very great book, would definitely re-read this if I needed a cheer-me-up.
Scarlett Thomas has quickly become one of my favourite writers of all time and PopCo is the first one I read followed by The End of Mr. Y (which confused me to no end). I was smitten.
Her writing reminds me a little of Haruki Murakami’s, which coincidentally is also one of my favourite writers of all time. PopCo is about Alice, the quirky toy designer who works in PopCo and went for a company retreat. Other than all the talk about toy design (which I LOVED because I’m designer and I’m familiar with all the designing progress), Alice is also a code breaker. When her Grandpa died he left her the code and the necklace which would lead to a treasure. Alice spent most of her life trying to crack the code but she couldn’t. Meanwhile in the company retreat she got a message in codes too. With all this going on, really you wouldn’t get bored reading this one. I also feel like I actually learn some stuff after reading PopCo (stuff about mathematics and codes!) and it’s not really that heavy of a read too. The ending was awful though. Alice solved the code on her necklace and she found the treasure but it wasn’t explained how.

DRAAAAAGOOOOOONSSSSS.
There was a period in my life where I was like 'don't talk to me about dragons because they're not real'. I MEAN CAN U BELIEVE THAT?? I am a piece of shit now, but wow, I was even worse back then. Plus when I said that it was like way before I read The Hobbit. After I read The Hobbit I realised that dragons are cool and i took back everything i said about them being not real because chances are they are (right?). (I was actually pretty neutral about dragons, I mean I read HPATGOF a long time ago and I didn't care much about dragons. IDK why then I became such a dragon hater.)
OK. so the thing with this series is it took place somewhere in 1800-ish so that was like a very long time ago and I imagine it being very different from now. But Jackaby is very modern in my opinion. I just don't think that it has that 1800-ish feeling. In this book Jackaby and Abigail found a case where people in Gad Valley found a dinosaur bones which turned out to be a dragon (because it had wings!). This book isn't as fun as the first book because I just think that there are way too many characters and they're not very important, in fact their existence is ruining this book because they just kind of run amok pointlessly. There's also a lot of complain about us not getting enough Jackaby in this book even though he's the most interesting character and I have to agree. He's a bit distant in this book, like he's always there but in the background. But yeah, if you love dragons you should give this one a go even though IMHO it's not very good.

Actual rating is 3.5. Amusing read. It reminds me a lot of sherlock. All those Asexual-I'm-Better-Than-You vibe is just coming out so strong. I loved how Abigail stands up for herself when the men around her underestimated her and basically calling women weak. This book spoils me because i love sherlock and i also love myths, urban legends, ghosts, monsters, etc. and this book is basically all of those stuff. What i don't like is that thing about abigail and charlie. I hate it when the author thinks that there must be a romance or something resembling romance in their book and Abigail and charlie? I just don't get the chemistry. I just feel like it's there but not really so its existence is useless and should be erased from the book completely. The other thing is this isn't really mind blowing or epic. It was a fun read, though.
I read The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls and turned into a human faucet. It was awesome. So I've been wanting to read another book by Jeannette and finally decided to read this one. It was good. Really good. Not as good as The Glass Castle, but still. It has the same theme as TGC with absentee parents, poverty, independent kids, that type of thing. Oh and the villain in the silver star is a creepy old dude and he got shot in the end. Score!
I really enjoyed reading this one. It was fast paced, a bit hilarious because of the naiveté of the main character and a bit sad too. I didn't know what it was about before I read it, I only started reading it because I was attracted to the cover. I'm not disappointed and a bit surprised too because most of the books that I read because of the pretty covers turn out to be not very good but this one was just extraordinary. Milkweed is a must read.
I can't believe that anyone could think that this book is nothing but pretentious and incredibly dull story. It was so mind numbing, it was boring and I just don't care about the characters or what happened to them or what's going to happen to them. I mean, I'm not even sorry to say that this book is literally the worst thing I've ever read.
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe is a very beautiful read and I loved every single minute I spent reading this book. The prose is beautiful, the characters are interesting and complex and I also love the relationship in this book. And I have to say that I really enjoy reading books with lgbtq theme like i'll give you the sun, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, Malinda Lo's Ash, will grayson, will grayson, more than this, etc. and I just need to read more of them!
