Laura Pavlov is an author I've wanted to read for a very long time, and I'm really pleased that Valentine PR has given me the opportunity to do so by offering me this audiobook.

I was immediately won over by the writing style. It's fluid and easy to follow, and I was drawn straight into Magnolia Falls. What I love most about series is tight-knit groups of friends, and this one didn't disappoint. I loved every one of their interactions and their exchanges are hilarious and really made me want to learn more about each of the characters.

Now River and Ruby. Undeniable tension and overheated exchanges. Their first time together was explosive and didn't leave me indifferent. Watching their relationship slowly evolve from 'we can't stand each other' to 'let's do something about all this sexual tension' to 'oops, having feelings for each other wasn't in the cards' was really great and ticked all the boxes expected when reading this kind of romance.

For all fans of Chestnut's Springs and Elsie Silver, I recommend you give it a go.

despite remarkable writing and very touching characters, the background of this story leaves me with the bitter, unpleasant aftertaste of a judgment filled with hypocrisy. This is just my opinion, and I'll let you make up your own mind if you ever come across this book.

If you're looking for a romance that flirts with personal development, something that grabs you by the gut and gives you a run for your money, then I recommend this book. If, like me, you don't take kindly to being lectured through an unrealistic narrative that ultimately judges the modern lifestyle by blaming it for all the world's ills, then maybe skip it altogether.

🇺🇸I just realized now that I already read one book by this author and actually really liked it. It was Mating the Huntress and I recommend it to all of you who enjoy Talia Hibbert's writing.

About Guarding Temptation now: it was awesome! I love that the FMC has tried to seduce the MMC before the story and that it all starts as she's being rejected. The pining from his POV was so good. The building tension between them, as well as the smut, were amazing!

I’ll definitely read more of this author.

Reading this book was long and slow, but I'm glad I took my time, even if it was against my will (falling asleep at 10 pm every night isn't really my style, but you have to listen to your body once in a while) because Jennifer Millikin's writing is to be savored, and it was this style that I first fell in love with. The author really conveys all kinds of emotions through her words, and I really felt like I was on the island with the main character. Not only that I was there, but that I'd always known this place and missed it.

Then I fell in love with Klein. What I really liked about this story is that sometimes with fake dating, you're left doubting the characters' feelings for a long time (they themselves sometimes don't really know where they stand). Here, not at all. Klein and Paisley are well aware of their attraction to each other, and the circumstances surrounding their first missed chance are quickly clarified, reducing the miscommunication trope to nothing in a few paragraphs, which I really appreciated.

And beyond the funny moments and laugh-out-loud situations, there's a lot of sweetness and a rather sad family history in the background, which gives a lot of depth to the novel and the characters.
Finally, can we please talk about Klein's mouth? Every sentence he utters to Paisley deserves to be framed and cherished. I completely melted for him.

It was the first time I'd read a novel by this author and I can't wait to discover her other works.
