slay! this was delightful! I think if you read the heart principle and you were like damn, I wish this was the same as it is just not as sad then I think what if you & me would be a perfect book for you! despite being about two people trying to get over their very traumatic pasts, it stays so light hearted and fun. I had some issues like at times it felt like the dialogue it was trying too hard to be meaningful and deep and also what are the chances that I read TWO romance books in TWO weeks that have a bachelor auction charity event side plot where the main girl uses the main guys money to bid on him so he doesn't have to go on a date with a rando (the other book was the spanish love deception for those wondering).
I think they also made out that his ex-fiance cheating out to be not as terrible as it was. like he was upset and the girl was was like "yeah well tbh our relationship wasn't that great and j was thinking of leaving you but then you lost your leg in a fire so I cheated on you with your best friend instead of breaking up with you" and he was like "of you didn't cheat because of my leg? you were already planning on leaving me? if that's okay then! and he forgives her and the book makes it seem like it's both of their faults????? also I don't think the third act break up needed to happen, I think it would have been better if they kept it the entire argument the same but instead of him giving up and then breaking up at the end I would have preferred if they stayed together instead of breaking up for like 1 hour until she ALMOST DIES.
but on the whole I loved this story and was deeply moved by both of the characters overcoming their individual pasts (although I think Andi's was done better) and they included the perfect amount of Hollyn and Jasper (the couple from the previous book) where it was cute and fun but not too much that it was like okay I get it can we pls move on. also this book was so white😭😭 I don't think you can have a true crime podcaster/horror writer that talks about helping women stay safe without mentioning race even one time??? anyway 4.5 stars

okay guys, this was supposedly the best of the series but I wasn't feeling it. yes the larger plot points are fun but oml sarah j maas really just takes forever to get to the point!! this audio was 23 hours long!!!! I don't think I will continue with this series only because cari can read has a plot breakdown of every book in the series so I'm just gonna watch them instead of wasting my time. I can't be bothered to write a coherent review but here were my notes I was taking while reading:
- wtf tamlin😭😭😭
- I don't feel like these people are actually friends, their banter seems so forced
- oml feyre shut up about the painting
she learnt how to read so quick what lol
- j am so bored😐😐😐😐😐
- painting is annoying
- every intense scene is randomly cut with random sexy times
- sex scenes are so much fun omg - are they sexy? no. are they wildly entertaining? yes.
- monologue info dumps oml STOP
~ I love lucien and I would 100% read his spin off book
- ending was slay - cauldron thing felt weird and forced but the part where she goes to tamlin is interesting
Ultimately I just feel like the plots do not make sense, the author just says "oh and now this has to happen" and then everyone just agrees and go along with it but nothing actually makes any sense. 2.75

okay okay okay so keep in mind for this review that "was this a good book?" and "did you enjoy this?" are two VERY different questions. trust me I am so so so embarrassed but this book lowkey did it for me😭😭 this was so entertaining guys😭😭 it has everything I hate in a book,  the plot was so forced, it didn't deal with the disordered eating in it (and lowkey I think the only reason why it was added was so that aaron could take care of her), the "enemies" part felt so primary school the way they acted towards each other, he was just too perfect with her family and also rich and also hot (the part when he takes his shirt off and she's like "he's so hot I genuinely want to cry" like GIRL bahhahhahahah) and he was was too willing to randomly go to Spain for her for no reason? like obviously he loved her this whole time or whatever but he was just so cool about paying for 1st class flights a day before he's meant to go. also the amount of times it's mentioned how massive big huge he is??? I knew it was in the book so I was mentally prepared for it to be mentioned a lot but omg it was in there I shit you not 20x MORE than I thought, genuinely mentioned multiple times in every SINGLE chapter. the miscommunication at the start was also so frustrating, like it in a "why won't you talk to each other about your feelings" (which was actually also there) but like "why won't you tell each other basic information" these people were striking deals with each other and not explaining literally anything??? also this book was wayyyyyyyy too long and the pacing was so insane, it took them like 40% of the novel to even get to Spain for the wedding and the actual wedding scene was just described quickly in passing, like we are barely on it then they have sex and next thing you know they're back in the us. the third act break up/conflict felt so rushed also, she had every right to be worried and I thought that he would turn down the promotion but no instead you have them do some untoward in the elevator when that should seriously make her so worried with all that she has gone through?????? despite all of this, when I liked this book I liked it a lot😭😭 it's so embarrassing guys trust me I'm self aware, this was NOT a good book but it was like the reality tv of books, I would definitely not recommend this book because you have you excuse a lot of truly terrible stuff to actually enjoy this book and I have no idea how I was able to compartmentalize like this😭😭 against my own will, this was ig what you could call a "problematic fave". a very reluctant 3 stars (I'M SORRY FJSJFJSKKDKAKDK)

there were two pov characters but they sounded so similar that I barely noticed it changing. I found the commentary lackluster and the metaphors about music cringe :/

this was amazing! I definitely wouldn't have picked this up on my own (my grandma got me this for Christmas) but I'm so glad I read it. this is an amazing story about the horrors of WWII and the life of citizens in nazi-occupied paris. I think this did a really good job of capturing the quiet terror of this time, how people turned on each other and how so many people were doing small things to save lives. I didn't really like the pacing of the story and there were a few lucky coincidences but other than that I highly recommend this book!

look how old and disgusting and manky this copy is, can you believe that this was my first read of this book? this was fine I guess. I can see why this was such a big thing for it's time and I enjoyed it but tbh I wasn't super super interested in what was going on. there were a few random casually sexist moments where I was like 😮 and then we just moved on and idk if they toned this down in the movies but the whole aslan = jesus was way more pronounced than I thought it would be????? also if I see edmund, it's ON SIGHT. he got redeemed way too quickly idc that he's a kid, I will never forgive him

a very cute lil novel, this wasn't traditionally sad but this made me want to cry. I initially wasn't really feeling it but one I got to the half way point (this is only like 80 pages so it didn't take that long!) I was sold. this is really just about growing up and I felt really touched by this story, I think I like this more than kawakami's other works that I've read so far (heaven and breasts and eggs)
funny informative fast-paced

wow! what an unexpected slay! this was really informative as well as being a really accessible and fun to read! the author was very charismatic and the illustrations really really aided this book and made everything make alot more sense. I was recommended this by my uncle after I was diagnosed with coeliac disease but honestly I highly highly recommend this for everyone, this was so so eye opening!! I'm really going to take the information I learnt here into my life and food choices, I honestly have no complaints with this book and am shocked by how it wasn't boring!

okay so this took me a while to finish because of... the incident... iykyk but I'm having trouble rating this one. partially because I'm besties with one of the authors (she responded to my dm one time jk two times) and because I enjoyed this but I just didn't feel gripped enough by it. like it was a fine enough story but I didn't feel like I NEEDED to be reading this book like I had with the roughest draft (their other book). also I found Eliza's side plot conflict to be not that compelling or fleshed out. despite the above, I this was still a pleasant read even though it didn't blow my mind or anything. also this gets points for being the first book that I've read where they were at the hotel and book one bed and then the person at the hotel is like "um, no we have you booked for two rooms" and I can enjoy the comedy of flipping the "and there was only one bed trope" hahahhaha 3.25 stars
