Do I have any idea what I just read? No. But was it one of the best books I’ve ever read? Absolutely yes.
This was stunning. It was one of those books where you’re confused the entire time and the only way to comprehend what’s happening to just allow yourself to get swept up in the tide of confusion and embrace the nonsensical beauty of the story. I felt like I was watching a ballet underwater. It was captivating from start to finish

What a ride! This was a fantastic series, I get the NK Jemisin now 100%. I did find the ending to be anticlimactic, we were building up this huge thing that was going to be so epic and then just… didn’t do that, for some reason. I still liked how everything wrapped up, it’s just that scene that could have happened but didn’t that I’m disappointed about. But otherwise this was excellent, and I can’t wait to read more of her books!
This was so unbelievably cute! I can’t remember the last time a book had me squealing and kicking my feet. I was grinning ear to ear the entire read, and teared up multiple times. Found family + rivals to friends to lovers, it’s like this was made for me!
Unsurprisingly, I gave this 5 stars. Do I have any idea what I just read? Not really, I couldn’t explain the plot no matter how hard I tried. But I loved every moment of this book. It was beautiful far beyond what I thought it could be. It had moments filled with strange humour and sweetness, while also feeling so deeply sad and lonely. This was an exceptional reading experience that I’ll never forget, and will definitely be revisiting for years to come
Ooh this was so good! I lost interest for a bit around the 15% mark, but it picked up again and stayed solid for the rest of it. Can’t wait to read the sequel!
