This was really sweet, but I had a hard time getting into it because I found the pacing to be really off. The dialogue was a little awkward too, although I can’t pinpoint why. I’ll still continue with the series, but it won’t be a new favourite
Really enjoyed the writing in this one, especially during the drag performance. I felt like I didn’t learn a lot about the side characters though, which made it difficult to relate to Mike as a lot of his emotional journey was tied to the people around him. I also found the audiobook to sound a little robotic, which I was extra disappointed about because it is narrated by the author and I was super excited for that. The author definitely didn’t do a bad job narrating by any means, I just set way too high expectations after listening to other novels in verse that were also narrated by the author. Still a great read though, glad I picked it up!
Don’t mind me, just casually crying at the laundromat while reading the end of this book
I can’t get over how cute this series is! There really isn’t a whole lot going on in terms of plot, but that isn’t a negative thing. Both books so far have just been really simple character driven stories about the mundane parts of a not-so-mundane world, and I absolutely love that! I adore the characters, and love all the diversity that was seamlessly woven in. Overall, both books have managed to put a huge smile on my face and I can definitely see myself rereading them when I need a quick pick-me-up
This was such a cute, quick read! There’s really no plot to it, no conflict at all. It’s just a girl learning about tea dragons and making friends with the people she meets. Very wholesome read that put the biggest smile on my face, and with stunning art to go with it. Thoroughly enjoyed this one, and I’ll be picking up book two very shortly!
Cute story, fun art style, but this is definitely not for me
