Didn’t live up to the excitement of the first book. I’m disappointed she doesn’t become the new hatter, and wonder why she didn’t just believe herself to have children again, though I guess by the time that’s brought up, she is already changed. Also sad for Red, hate that she had to embody her mother

This series starters focuses on Avery’s personal growth. We get a few hints at the larger plot line later on in this book.
limited third person point of view- where the narrator only knows the thoughts and feelings of one character

At least one intimate scene with the reader present, euphemistic language for act and body parts. No penetration, oral only

It was a bit weird that the author kept repeating how the men were solely focused on the female, I didn’t feel I needed a reminder every single time they got “busy.”
The fact that Ginger went from “normal” to shifter in half a second without any lead up was off putting.

👑King Midas by Skye Warren:
My only issue was the dialogue in the montage was unclear. It’s from the FMC POV but we hear the MMC’s speech with no quotation.
🧶Rumpelstiltskin by Celia Aaron
Trigger: cheating
🧙🏻♀️American Witch by Sierra Simone
This one confused me. I’ve never heard of someone having such an issue with being a switch.
🤴King Thrushbeard by Cora Reilly
No issues, it’s a novella so I can’t fault the FMC for caving so easily and not making the MMC grovel.
🫘Jack and the Beanstalk by Marley Valentine
Tropes: MM
Trigger: knife play, blood play, murder, mention of trafficking
🥀Beauty and the Beast by Willow Winters
Liked this one, doesn’t stray too far
🦢The Swan Maiden by Natasha Knight
It has a Romeo & Juliet vibe almost. I would definitely read the full novel.
🥿Danger’s First Kiss by Aleatha Romig
Trope: brother’s best friend, secret relationship
Trigger: abuse, mention of incest
🐺Red and The Wolf by Karina Halle
Trigger: blood, murder, mention of pediphile
🦆The Ugly Duckling by CJ Roberts
Trope: FF
Trigger: rape
🪞The Fairest by T.M. Frazier
My favorite of the book

What was supposed to be quirky/ funny one liners ended up being too often and strange. I liked Alex’s dedication to Violet so far into the book, but Violet’s personality seemed too impersonal.
