My first foray into Hardy's work. I've heard that you either like Hardy or your hate him -- I'm happy to say that I am of the former opinion. I find his descriptions to be beautiful (although somewhat tedious, initially), and I had to put my faith in him several times in order to observe the relevance of some scenes. The story is beautifully tragic, and I really loved the eternal conflict of Society vs. Nature found within. Very good read, overall.
