the writing, the world-building, the characters, the scope of this book. i will always be grateful to this book; not just for introducing me to samantha shannon (now my favorite author), but for re-sparking my love for reading and propelling me into the worlds of adult fantasy and literary fiction. this book is a masterpiece; no other book has singularly affected me as much as this book has.

in all seriousness one of the best books i've read in 2021. incredible and entrancing worldbuilding, and a spellbinding plot. priya and malini are geniunely a great couple i'm so drawn to their dynamic

there are some things that rub me the wrong way(the weird line about how it's better currently. august you are white and will never experience what jane will) but overall a good romcom that i think is better than rwrb
