not gonna lie i don't like the writing style of this book...it felt very confusing. the book was good but again i found myself confused by what was going on at certain points of the novel.
i have a lot of feelings about this book, but it was written so well and i enjoyed reading this book, although reading some stories at times felt heartbreaking
this is a cute re-telling and i really liked the sibling dynamics.
historically emma lord and i have never gotten along so this book was a pleasant surprise. millie and oliver have a very delightful dynamic as rivals to lovers, and millie's family was lovable
i sobbed my eyes out in the parking lot of 99 ranch while reading this. just such an impactful memoir, especially as i'm a fan of michelle zauner's work
a satisfactory fantasy debut from marske; even if i was confused by the magic system and i got lost in this book, the plot was interesting and robin and edwin's relationship was well-written and very romantic. the magic system is really interesting i just had no idea how it worked
to be honest i saw many reviews hyping this book up and it was fine. it was sweet and cute but i didn't feel strongly towards it tbh. it was a quick read.
a vibrant and colorful coming of age story with a strong main relationship that had me sobbing in the end.
flip the script is a really fun and light ya romance novel!! i liked it and thought it was a good book. the concept was fun and i really liked seeing bryan, hana, and minjee’s dynamic play out. however, i wouldn’t describe this novel as a love triangle, or a rivals-to-lovers. instead, i saw it more as a friends-to-lovers story.
this story follows hana jin, a korean-american, as she stars in one of the biggest k-dramas of the year with bryan yoon, a kpop idol getting into acting. when ratings slip, they bring on a new girl, minjee, to play hana’s love rival. i liked the plot. this novel is really light-hearted, and the story reflected that.
the writing didn’t have too much to note about. i do wish that we could’ve seen more of their individual personalities. i did feel that bryan caught feelings for hana really quick, and moved on really quick as well, and it would’ve been nice to see more about that.
i really liked the dynamic of this trio. they all played off each other really well, and bryan and hana’s dynamic was fun to read. i also liked hana and minjee’s relationship. they’re cute.
i raced through this book, and i liked it! it was a lighthearted, fun novel. i did wish we could’ve seen more of bryan and hana’s relationship, as well as minjee and hana’s relationship, but i liked the characters and the plot. lyla lee just writes a fun book i can't lie
the verifiers is a interesting novel with a interesting premise. i found it good in several aspects, including the characterization of the main character, claudia, and her family, but i felt it dragged along around the end and i really found it confusing during the end.
the plot follows claudia pek, a chinese-american lesbian as she joins veracity, a online dating detective agency, in a society that seems more focused than usual on dating. however, as she dives deeper into one case, a new scifi conspiracy begins to unravel. i thought this was a cool premise and it was, but i also felt that it could’ve done with more structuring. it was def written in a strong voice, even if i got mixed up in the plot
i really like claudia’s character, someone who's a bit nerdy and kind and has a complicated relationship with her family. i also really liked her dynamic with becks #watchthisspace
i enjoyed reading this book, even if i did get confused at times. the mystery was grounded, the mc was enjoyable to read, and the book overall wasn’t bad. i’m pretty sure there’s gonna be an sequel, so i may pick it up when the sequel comes back.
i got an arc of this! thanks to netgalley and knopf doubleday publishing group!!
