Wanted to read this bc Jenny Slate narrates it BUT had to stop bc I couldn’t get past her voice as she read. Maybe I’ll pick it back up in physical/ebook
As a former almost therapist, I GET that recognizing and cultivating joy is important but I do not care about this at all
I am so sorry but the author seems insufferable at times and I cannot seem to care about what she’s saying
The characters are so ducking annoying, ableist, fatphobic, and all around the WORST. I have no interest in their life and the writing was mediocre at best
Graphic: Ableism, Fatphobia
Some translations just read way too choppy imo and this was one of them. It was so difficult to read and I wasn’t invested after almost 50 pages :/
The translation (or maybe actual writing?) just felt SO choppy and difficult to read. This was especially the case for the audiobook. It felt like someone was recording one line at a time and it was spliced together
Becoming Kin: An Indigenous Call to Unforgetting the Past and Reimagining Our Future
DID NOT FINISH: 18%
I’ll come back to it! Just needed to put it down for now!
