Just as good the second time around. It’s a comfort read, but it’s a comfort read that navigates complex relationships, and tough decisions. Importantly, though, it’s a bright, bright spot of hope, especially for a 20 year old bi kid deep in red East Texas. Sometimes, you just need something like this to remind you that better days are coming.

I cannot, in good conscience, give this book a 5 star read because, like all of her books, it’s probably objectively not good. Does that stop me from going absolutely apeshit crazy over it? Absolutely not. I love this book. I love this dumb trilogy. Kevin Day is the light of my life and no I will not be taking questions at this time.

Alright. I am obsessed with this book. Neil’s character development is actually batshit insane, and insights into other characters abound in this book. Neil as an unreliable narrator absolutely GUTS me, because the prose from his point of view is literally gorgeous. The last page of this book gets me every time. Not a literary masterpiece, but goddamn does it make me feel like it is.

I love this book so irrationally. I don’t think it’s exceptionally well-written. It’s not a literary masterpiece. But some quotes just SHINE, and the characters are so overwhelmingly interesting. Neil is a godawful narrator in terms of reliability, and that makes the whole thing SO fascinating. He’s perceptive towards anyone but himself, and I’m obsessed. Kevin Day is the love of my life. Matt is a gem. I just adore this book series with every fiber of my being.
