“Count of Monte Cristo” with magic and with an interesting, multi-POV slow-reveal of the world. The second half was all satisfaction in the same way as that story, but I was expecting from the reviews and cover description for it to be much bloodier. I think I would have enjoyed the book more if it were clearly YA, but as an adult book, I thought it could have been darker in the second half to balance with the successful retributions.
