This book was absolutely phenomenal. So good that I can't be articulate about it. So good that all I wanted was to sit and read it cover to cover. This is the updated homage Stephen King's Carrie needed and deserved.

I'm so mad at myself. I've had The Cursed Among Us almost since it came out. I'm mad that it took me this long to finally pick it up. Two of my favorite horror tropes are coming of age and evil in a small town; this book combines the two masterfully. The thing that really struck me is how authentically it's written. So often in writing teenagers, the authors fail to have them speak and react like actual teenagers. None of that here. These characters felt real and I cared about them deeply. It's hard to believe this is a debut novel. It deserves every bit of the hype - highly recommended.

This book was an absolute delight! It was a perfect palette cleanser after some of the books I've been reading lately. Vodou was very well-written and tons of fun. Jack and David might be some of my new favorite anti-heroes. I see that this is a one off book and I'm a bit sad. I'd love to read about some of the next adventures they get into (or prior exploits).

Damn Nature, you scary! I throughly enjoyed this eco horror/police procedural mash up. It's a fairly terrifying premise, wrapped up in a serial killer story. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the Northgate Trilogy.

Undoubtedly one of the best wicked witch books I've read. I'm excited to read more titles by Abe Moss. 

DNF'd at 75% when I realized I absolutely did not care what happened anymore. Honestly, this one was a slog for me. Half the book is just Laraya by herself, and I did not find her likeable at all. Then it got a little too deus ex machina for me in the second half of the book. I'll try another Candace Nola some time, but this one was not for me.

Caitlin Marceau has written a genuinely creepy, horrifying novella. It's short, but it packs a hell of a punch. Fair warning, though: survivors of narcissistic abuse may find it pretty triggering. I really enjoyed this one and will absolutely be on the lookout for future titles by her.

I love a good exorcism story, and this one is really, really good. I cared about the characters quite a bit and I'm eager to read more of Jimmy Holiday's adventures.
