Can I just say how satisfying it is to read story after story in which Nazis, bigots, and racists get theirs in horrific ways? So well deserved.

Thank you to Cemetery Dance for providing a review copy.
I'm not sure how this book escaped my notice for so long, but it was so good! I love horror based on mythology, so this was right up my alley. I was shocked to discover that The Eater of the Gods is a debut. It reads like the best of the veteran horror writers. The creep factor was quite high, as I hate enclosed spaces and am scared of getting trapped underground. Highly recommend!

I really loved the first Pagham-On-Sea book, with it's gothic (with a twist) atmosphere. The second book is much more Lovecraftian family drama, and it turns out that I am really, really into that.
Thirteenth deals much more with Ricky's family lore and I loved reading more about it. Ricky is my favorite character from the first novel, and I was excited to get to learn more about his family. I'm eagerly awaiting the third book in the series.

I  am quickly becoming a huge fan of Carlton Mellick III. His books are everything that excellent about the bizarro genre. They're weird as hell, bloody as hell, and so much fun. The story and the characters are what make his books outstanding. Even if they're terribly unlikable, he makes sure you know how they got that way.
Mellick's take on the zombie genre is entirely unique. You might think you've read books about a zombie game show before, but I promise you it's never been this awesome.

4.5 stars, rounded up. I very much enjoyed this book! It's super fun bizarre with a twist. I've seen it compared to House of 1000 Corpses, and I'd say that's fairly accurate, just with an added whiff of hellfire. I would love to read more about the Breathlands in the future!

What a great book! Unshod, Cackling, and Naked left me wanting more and that is the hallmark of a good short story collection. I enjoyed every story in the hook, but I do have some particular favorites. Under the Crown, I did it for you, The Bats, all excellent. My very favorite was These Parts - it just blew me away. Highly recommend.

For a book that has been described as a slasher, most of the action takes place in the last 25%. Then things happened so quickly that it became a little confusing and rushed. It's not a bad book, just not really for me.
