I love the idea of a book that encourages kids to not let being a princess be the end goal, and that they should aspire to be a princess who does something. I also love that a variety of countries were highlighted, although the world map with the princess-less Americas gave me a little laugh.
There was definitely an issue of some of the entries being stronger than the others (Princess Abze Djigma, who is one of the first in the book, is perhaps the best of the lot). I believe the book will quickly become dated too since it only looks at current princess; the book may have been stronger is some of the entries were changed out for historical ones.

Kiki and Ana are wonderful (even though their character just blend together sometimes), and they act and feel like real teens. That they are based on real women makes them all the better, and I would have loved more about them in the back matter. The depictions of different ways to express grief are also excellent.
I do wish there was a little more to the end. I would have loved to have seen some of the scenes that were summarized as they actually happened. The last two chapters were easily my least favorite in the books just because they felt pretty limp.

I want to love this so much but I can’t get my brain around a book where a character is supposed to be investigating a mystery but spends so much time not doing that. I just ended up feeling like Firuz didn’t do much. Maybe this story just needed more pages so they could be more active.

An adorable picture book about friendship. With very little text this one is a quick read and a easy "one more book".

The stars are for the art, which I loved and is wonderful, but the text is... well maybe it was impossible to condense and simplify The Three Musketeers novel into a picture book, but I don't think having telling it in 1st person from d'Artagnan's POV helped matters. This rushed from important plot moment to important plot moment and by the end I just felt a sense of 'what even happened'?

Although I really enjoyed the last quarter of this book I spent the first 3/4 wondering why the Georgia, the main character, is the least likable out of the main cast and wishing that any of the others were the POV characters.

I am so glad that this has been adapted to a graphic novel as it will be able to reach an audience who might not have the patience to sit through the novel. I also think that there are things (horrors) that are more effective to see than to read about.
There are two things I wish: 1) that this graphic novel was longer as it speeds by so fast that it's a bit jarring; 2) that some source photographs were included at the end, because illustrator Loreto Aroca must have had some reference material.
