the romance in this book consists of the forbidden, brother’s best friend, first love, second chance romance, and miscommunication tropes. in addition, it’s also a slow burn romance filled with angst and the chemistry build up was pretty good. however, i found the slow burn too slow for my own preference.

i enjoyed the story— especially the first half. but, after the second half, i found myself losing interest. i wasn’t much interested in colm— liv’s brother— in the story; and i hated how he played such a huge role in their relationship— causing them miscommunication. i wasn’t a huge fan of ford in the end as well, i liked him more in the first half. he did have a huge character development, but wasn’t as huge as liv’s character development; it really threw me off.

so far, this isn’t my fav book in the series, but i’ll still continue to read the next book; for i’m almost done with the series.

this book hooked me from the sentence to the last one and it was a very interesting read. apart from the wattpad stories i have read before, it’s safe to say that this is my first dark romance read. i usually find the genre disturbing because i don’t really like violence in my contemporary books.

this book was a good read, but there were some plot holes. i didn’t fall in love with nico as much as i expected to. he was still misogynistic somehow and to be honest, he really needs therapy. i also would’ve preferred if he groveled more because i didn’t think he groveled enough. on the other hand, i would’ve wanted to see more of elena’s family and her past— to dig deeper on why her father tried to sell her. i also wish i got to see more of adriana.

overall, it’s a great read, it just has some plot holes. if you want a book that will help you get out of a reading slump, i suggest to read this.

ruthless king stands out more compared to the first two books of the series. it tackles more on deeper topics such as addiction and mental abuse. that said, it was better, but emmett is probably my least favorite book boyfriend in this series.

don’t get me wrong, i loved his character development, but i just expected him to grovel more given the fact that he pushed avery away after knowing the real story of their previous love affair. though he was more understanding towards the end of the book, most of the time he always gets things in his way such as his pride and close-mindness leading to miscommunication.

the miscommunication trope plays a huge part of this book, it’s basically the whole plot. most of the time, i despise that trope, but it was done well in this book i guess you could say.

overall, i think giving it 4 stars is generous, but my only concern was emmett. he could’ve been better.

this book was an alright read. i picked it up to get out of my reading slump, and it did the job.

i thought the chemistry between heath and kara was close to invincible, everything was in a rush. the ta / student trope isn’t also one of my fav, so i guess that’s one of the reasons i didn’t enjoy it as much. i would say that i cried a lot on the second half of the book especially after that scene. heath’s character development was outstanding, and so as kara’s. i adored kara and mak’s friendship, i wish i’ve seen their friendship more.

out of all the books, i’m most looking forward to emmett and avery’s story as i’m already intrigued with their characters; and i’m really curious on what happened with them.

this is definitely the best book i read in the trilogy. it was just okay. it had so much potential, the build-up was great, but the battle sequence was not very climactic as i expected it to be.

i was expecting arwen to appear, but she didn’t. if she did, i’d have probably gave it more than 3 stars. and the love triangle ? a big no.

the ending was very bittersweet, and i thought it could be better. i’m sad that i’ll leave these characters behind, though.

this is ur typical 2nd book in a trilogy. usually your least favorite and just a build up to the third book. i found the ending a little bit rushed as well.

well, controversially, i enjoyed this more than the hobbit.

tolkien is called "the father of fantasy" but i wouldn't say this is one of the best fantasy books out there, it was just fine. the plot was good, however the execution was disappointing. tolkien's writing was dull for me, especially in the first part. as i read through the book, no doubts, i was getting more intrigue with the storyline. there are also no doubts that tolkien's writing style grew more to me. personally, i prefer the second part more. i thought it had a better execution than the first part.

regardless, i guess you could say that i enjoyed the book despite on how slow it is.

i think this is the type of book i would’ve enjoyed when i was younger. i tried to love this book, and eventually failed. i neither loved it or hated it; it was just ok.

i have wanted to read this series since i was 8, and just picked it up now. the plot was amazing. there were few plot holes, but plot holes are pretty visible in any book. the characters, on the other hand, weren’t as lovable. if it wasn’t for bilbo, i would’ve rated this book a star. he carried the book. the slow pace was also unnecessary. i found the overly descriptive sentences unnecessary. taking almost the whole page describing an apple was not it for me.

i don’t know why there are several dwarfs— i don’t think eleven dwarves were necessary. up until now, i still don’t know their names one by one without checking them again. in addition, there were zero females in this book. i was expecting at least one, and i didn’t get any. that part really bugged me.

however, i’ll still read the next book because i’ve heard better things about it.
