As fascinating as the first book, this tale of invasion broadens the scope, giving more detail on the alien invaders and moving to a multiple viewpoint narrative. Really enjoying this series.

An excellent conclusion to a fascinating trilogy. Wrapped everything up nicely, satisfactory ends for all the characters, and a very interesting take on alien invasion.

Humankind is out in space, limited to mid-20th century tech while super advanced AI gods and their cybernetically enhanced angels control advanced tech, FTL flight and comms…oh, and Lovecraftian energies are destroying people and threatening worlds. Fun!

Having an autistic main character (and another supporting character) was very interesting as well, especially as a neurotypical (as far as I know) reader. The character’s differences in viewpoint and processing style were simultaneously an interesting look at a mental model I don’t know much about, and absolutely integral to the story itself.

Good collection of bittersweet and thoughtful short stories that often left me pausing to consider one before moving on to the next. Particular favorites are “Cucumber Gravy”, “Lucite”, “Homecoming”, “Remote Presence”, and “Recoveries”.

Good grand scope space opera, with neat questions on consciousness and the psychology of AI as used in ships of war. Figured out many of the reveals quickly, and it took a _long_ time to pull the third thread into the main picture, but still quite a good read.

A direct prequel to the _Picard_ series, detailing the struggles, triumphs, and travesties of the Romulan relief effort. Also the most politically & socially currently relevant Trek novel I’ve ever read.

I had vague memories of the film, but as it turns out, very vague: other than the tiny flying saucers, none of this was familiar. A pleasant enough bit of fluff to distract myself with, but not much more.

Meh. Maybe it’s a combination of mid-60s SF and the current pandemic stress, and I might have been more receptive at another time, but this was a slog.

A fun, quick read; amusingly thematically appropriate for the moment. Only this has the advantage of being fictional with a satisfactory resolution. If only COVID-19 could be dealt with in five days.
