Although it was a bit disjointed at times, I really enjoyed this text. The essays were moving and thought-provoking, from a perspective we don't often get with such candor.
This book is required reading. It's a shame how relevant this text still is in 2016. While I think we have made some progress, the author highlights many areas in which America still needs work. This book has to be read and then reread to fully grasp. It may need to be revisited annually for me.
I really thought I would like this book based on the topic. It turned out to be very boring, redundant, and written in a way that made me want to put it down every 10 minutes. I wanted to like it, but found it impossible.
A captivating read. I couldn't put it down. It took a turn towards crazy town for a second, but I enjoyed every bit of it.
