Erg leuk boek, doet aan Kees de jongen denken, en aan Rooie. Geschreven in een fijne stijl, een beetje een collage van gebeurtenissen, maar toch een geheel. En een mooie slotzin :)
My edition only says "Alice in Wonderland" on the cover, so I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the book contained much more of Lewis Carroll's writing. I didn't like "Alice in Wonderland" so much, possibly because it was very different from the story as I knew it, but also because I felt there was much more possible in the story then Carroll wrote about. The characters remain very flat.
I liked "Through the looking-glass" much more, it was a funny story with a lot of juggling with word and likable characters.
The poems are funny and a joy to read, even if only for the sake of the meter, because sometimes I really had no idea what he was on about :)
I didn't finish 'A tangled tale', a series of 'knots' containing mathematical riddles.
On the whole Lewis Carroll's writing is funny and indeed very suitable for children. It stimulates to rethink things that seem logical and natural, shows the possibilities of language and imagination, etc - a children's book as all should be :)
