Very cute but a bit too "small town journalist" vibe for me.

This was a beautifully done book and I’m so glad I read it. Heartbreaking and tragic but full of beauty and hope.

3.75? I think?

Not bad but not as good as Circe for me. Maybe it's the war bit?

All so, we love the author, we love the series. The cover is absolutely stunning.

All that said, this has a very different "feel" from Small Spaces and Dead Voices. I am not quite sure how to describe it? It felt sort of like...a key change in a song. An interlude. A book that needs to be there to get from Book 2 to Book 4 but not really something that stands on it's own or has it's *own* single purpose? If that makes any sense at all (it doesn't, it's fine).

We enjoyed the story, though, and will absolutely be there whenever the 4th book drops.

(I homeschool and listened with my 15, 13, and 7 year old)

This was a DNF for me.

I made it about 3hrs into the audiobook before I just gave up. I was bored to tears. *Sigh*

Maybe it gets better...??? But I don't care enough about anyone in the book to keep going to find out.
