Not sure if this was a case of too hyped or what...? I spent literally the first 200 pages waiting for SOMETHING to happen. The descriptions of VT bothered me too, as I live in VT and the author was trying to create an atmosphere but relied on saying “Vermont” and “Burlington” as if that somehow made a scene. It doesn’t. In the end, it’s not worth it at all, and I won’t be reading the sequel.

4.5 stars. I really, really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one. The only thing that bothered me was Aaron. I get the purpose etc but it bugged the crap out of me that they didn’t even consider it even after like the third time the same thing happened.

Wonderful easy read. Great characters and an interesting story.

3.5 stars. It wasn’t fantastic, but it was good and I enjoyed it.

2.5 stars. 2 felt too harsh, 3 too much. I can’t really articulate what about this didn’t work for me. I thought it was going to be a horror book, blurbs talk about being vintage King, but it’s not that at all. Were there disturbing parts? Yes. Was I ever scared? Nope, not even a little. The writing was all right-ish, but it just wasn’t at all what I thought it would be. It also took FOREVER to get to the “good” part.
