This book was fun and the narrator brought the story to life!

A solid 3 star read. This is the story of dealing with survivor’s guilt and reconciling anger and forgiveness. I like that it explores both options and that the narrator remains unnamed - this story could be any of ours.

Really young - not my thing but maybe older elementary or early MS would enjoy.

Holiday love stories almost never click with me but these tried!

I can't believe how many times I gasped while reading this book! I mean, I can, because Brenda Novak does not shy away from the thrills (or romance). This one was no exception!

Sloane is an unstoppable force, who has made it big after leaving her home town. After losing her best friend, and with a passion to solve her mother's murder, Sloane returns to the same drama she left behind. A father and brother who make you want to punch them, a (former) friend whose jealousy turned their friendship cold, and the hot former flame (of course).

I loved that this book kept me guessing. Sloane thinks her father killed her mother - but did he? Every stone unturned had me second guessing (the unveiling is SO good). Her complicated friendship with her former friend and how they navigate their rekindled relationship reminded me that sometimes we let things come between us that really shouldn't.

And, speaking of rekindled, you know no one comes back to town without checking in on the one that got away. I'm a fan of the love triangle and watching Sloane navigate this one was a treat. I can't lie - I was cheering for them the whole time.

If you want a little dark and a little light, add Before We Were Strangers to your holiday wishlist!

I finished this in a DAY and did not want to put it down. Told in an expanding universe where bioengineering continues to test the limits of humanism and humans inevitably act like humans, this story is so real and yet unlike anything else I've ever read. Don't sleep on this beauty!

How often do we get a stand-alone sci-fi? With dual narration? And great romance. Yes, this one is good.

A satisfying ending! I can’t wait to see what Wendy does next.

I read this in October and forgot to mark it as read?

If Ashley Elston is writing it, I am reading it. I have become such a fan of her unputdownable books with good endings.

What do you do if you’re a rich kid who is suddenly the outcast after your father screws over an entire community?

You suck it up and face it. You try to find your scumbag father and figure out how he could do such a thing. And you find yourself going down the longest rabbit hole, unraveling a decades-old mystery that left me saying O M G what!

Owen is tenacious and lovable. I fell for him right away. His whole world has been shaken and he’s figuring out the how and the what and the why. The WHY is stellar. Ashley Elston crafted a mystery that I had NO idea was coming. Next level, for sure.

What I love most about her books is the ability to leave us readers feeling ok at the end. Usually thrillers leave you a little broken but not this one. Can’t wait for what’s next!
