I loved this so much.
Every once in a while you read a book that just checks all the boxes.
Characters who you fall in love with, even though they're not perfect. Check.
A love story that doesn't consume the entirety of the story - plus the perfect book boyfriend. Check Check. (Holy crap do I love Alex)
A setting that you can insert yourself in. Check. Don't let the 90s setting throw off the fact that this is very much a YA (but today's popstars are made on YouTube, not auditioned like back in my day). The 90s don't bog down the story; it's still fun to live in that era for a bit, though.
This book was a ball of sweetness and is guaranteed to get you out of any slump. If you don't end up smiling, you're surely a monster. It's out now so I want to hear all your thoughts about it. That's all I'm going to say because I want to take us down memory lane for a bit.

Phenomenal.
I cleared my TBR to listen to THUG on release day - and all I can say is if you haven't picked this book up, you need to. I can't recommend the audiobook enough. It is SO GOOD.

I picked up this book because Kelly told me to and then Shaun David Hutchinson shamed me for waiting. Plus it was on sale and now I can't figure out why more people haven't consumed it. Maybe because it will consume you.
“But boys will be boys, our favorite phrase that excuses so many things, while the only thing we have for the opposite gender is women, said with disdain and punctuated with an eye roll.”
How do you describe a book that is literal perfection? The writing? On point. The subject? Timely. The characters? Ideal. The story? Incredible.
Brutal. This book is brutal. It's brutal because it's real. It's brutal because reality sucks. It's brutal because the main character murders a man within the first few pages and you're like, "Yeah, I get it."
There are laws in place that stop us from doing things. This is what we tell ourselves. In truth we stop ourselves; the law is a guideline for how to punish someone who is caught.
You will go through every emotion when reading this book. You'll mostly be angry. There will be tears. You might throw your book across the room (and then you'll run to pick it up). If you can grab it over audio, I highly recommend as it's told in three POV. The ending may break you.

Fans of Sarah Dessen & Kasie West will LOVE this book! Lots of kissing, push and pull, and relationship developments.
