Under a Painted Sky is a historical western contemporary story (really!) that explores a great friendship while also showcasing the time period racial and gender discrimination. Lee gives us a story that's as well put together and beautiful as a violin piece played by Samantha.

As a person working in a community where suicide clusters took place, I was intrigued by Kling's exploration of a teenager's experiences and lens of the world after the tragedies. Heidi has clearly done her research and handles the character's emotional exploration as well as the topic of suicide with care and reality. Highly recommend for teen/parent pairs looking to talk about the subject!

I can't say enough about how fluid the entire story is, from the writing to the art to the lettering to the editing, Gotham Academy continues to impress me. If you're looking for an intro into the world of DC, the New 52, or just comics in general, I highly recommend Gotham Academy!
