Loved this sapphic story!

My only complaint is I want to spend more time at this con!! So cute.

Finally a Gwen Cole book that didn’t wreck me. It sure tried with that slow burn romance, though.

This book tries hard and falls flat.

Read Displacement instead.

This was the perfect mix of cute and heat and I failed at my buddy read because I couldn’t put it down!

I just don't think I can live if we don't get a sequel to this AMAZING story. New fav Caleb book!

I was first drawn to A Map to the Sun because of its stunning and bright cover. I am a big fan of First Second books and this one is no exception!

A Map to the Sun is a story of friendship, teamwork, and growing up, revolving around basketball. This isn’t a basketball story, but a friendship story that grows through the game. The story opens with the childhood friendship of two girls, which shifts when one moves away…and then back. Added to their story is a team of diverse girls, who join the basketball team for a variety of reasons. What they find is home in each other.

This little slice of life feels true to the teenage experience. The art is breathtaking, with the variety of bright color usage that flows through the pages and shifts depending on the mood. It’s like a sunset on youth. I guess this is growing up.

- A new take on a well-loved team. DC fans are always seeking new Teen Titans stories. Kami Garcia really gets these characters and their team dynamic. These individual books give you a solid sense of the characters but gives you an updated story on them. I can’t wait to see when they come together…(you saw that, right?).

- The art. If you’ve read Raven, you’re familiar with Gabriel Picolo’s art. Clean line art and color guide your way. It’s clear Gabriel and Kami are partners in the Teen Titans story.

- Beloved writers writing new modalities! You may know Kami from Beautiful Creatures or The Lovely Reckless or X-Files or her role at YallWest/Fest. She’s pretty awesome overall. Seeing her write comics is a treat (if you haven’t checked out her Harley, I highly recommend you do).

This is everything I thought it wouldn’t be and I’m glad I read it.
