Ann consistently writes stories that are unputdownable, timely, and leave me waiting for her next book. Heartwood Box has the cover from a 90s horror/thriller and one of the most unique sci-fi mystery within. Absolutely loved this.

This is a cute intro to cosplay for kids. If you want some early skills in sewing, foam work, adapting thrifted clothes (really loved this), and more, this is a cute way to get it!

This is a total beach read with a good ending!

Uniquely told completely through texts, this is a quiet story about two characters falling slowly in love. It was about nothing and everything all at once. I loved that there was bi and demi rep, though I wish the demi rep had been explored (it truly was more show than tell, which is great!).

Wow, I originally read this series as a graphic novel and I missed SO MUCH. So glad I delved into the audiobook. I’m looking forward to learning more about the world in Prodigy and Champion. Plus, I’m sure Day and June are going to go through hell so I’m bracing myself for PAIN.

Five things I hope to see in the future:

1. In depth political profiles on both sides
2. References that crossover to the Warcross world
3. How Day & June will react when the honeymoon stage is over
4. Rebellion rebellion rebellion
5. Further knowledge about what their perfect scores mean

Well, that was fantastic. For contemporary readers who can’t get into fantasy - here’s your in. LOVED. Will end up on my best of.

I got halfway before I DNF. It was the same thing over and over - oh this is dangerous but I need to do it. Whoops almost died and the person with money and power only cares about themselves. Well still dangerous and now I’ve almost died but gotta keep going. Repeat.

I don’t even LIKE royal books and yet I am obsessed with all the ones out this year. THIS WAS SO CUTE.

The mental health and religion rep in this book is SO ON POINT. Loved the exploration of sexuality within religion. Fans of Semi-Definitive Worst Nightmares & The Apocalypse of Elena Mendoza (or Shaun David Hutchinson in general) will love this book.

I think I have a new auto buy author...

I found the switching between time periods to be very distracting since the tone and voice were the same.
