I really enjoyed how fun and imaginative this series was. I thought the ending felt a bit rushed but it didn't lower my goodwill for the series. so now Henrietta is going to raise her mama? it's been a while since i read book 3, but when did mr. flemming regain his mind?

I’ve never liked the Deadly Six. I always thought they were so uninspired from their designs to their flat archetype personalities. But the IDW writers could squeeze blood out of a turnip. They are working with very little but managed to make these guys tolerable. And gosh! they give Sonic depth too. He questions his hero ideology in this volume but stays very much in character.
The next big bad villain arc is also heating up with Starline taking an active role to mess everything up! A little more backstory for Belle too.

This one is very chaotic! It was ridiculous, fastpacked, and quirky, but it surprisingly got longwinded at the end. I think the change to children's humor was a bit rocky for Pastis, but kids may think differently.

Good introduction. This follows the usual shounen formula, but I like Sano’s ideology. For him, revenge is futile because it just begets more violence, but he also knows he has to literally fight for peace to come. He’s innocent and naïve but not totally stupid; there’s a balance. The Sunday school in me cringes at the names of Sano’s moves lol, but the action sequences are great.
This volume sets up a few threads that will definitely get spun into something later: can Sano win with forgiveness or will he give into darkness hence the"infinite night," Mikael's past, what happened to the nearly extinct tribes like Ryuzaki, more breakdown on the Lords and the sorcery powers.
On the downside, I could see Madam Naomi’s schtick getting old very fast no pun intended. When it’s time for exposition or worldbuilding, the text/speech bubbles can get very wordy. But the artwork is snazzy and dynamic! Concerning character design, I love Sano, Opal, and Miakel’s designs.
I would at least read a volume two. The ending went deep into some scifi-ness that I want to see the conclusion of. hello, Metaverse! Hey boo!
