“You know, Wizkit, sometimes we can get so caught up with all the things we think we are supposed to be that we forget to just be.”
Off the bat, this book is really charming and wonderfully dumb. I liked the humor! Wizkit is a lazy, homebody who is forced to go touch grass *gasp* They have to go on an escort mission basically and return a sentient, overdue library book. Book is so dramatic and fun; he has no poker face and shows all his feelings. The artwork was also cool and simple in a way that begs to be animated as a cartoon.
I’d love to read another book in this series.

I still enjoy this series, but I felt like this one was oddly paced.

“You’ve trouble communicating but … You can’t use that as an excuse to treat people badly.”
I want to reread the prequel because I enjoyed it when I first read it. It was definitely a refreshing standout for shoujo. From what I remember this hasn’t lost its charm. In the original series, Fumi was about getting paid. If you weren’t offering money, she wasn’t interested. No working for free! It seems like bills are the least of her worries here.
This new series still has them fighting evil and depressive thoughts (the real villain was poor mental health all along) with the power of cleanliness, Fumi’s amnesia still rears its head, and the author’s signature humor is still good and here. I love how awkward and earnest Kyutaro is when he stops hiding his feelings and how Fumi isn’t the usually cookie-cutter shoujo lead.

This was very cute, but also not something I’d read more of. The appeal of this comic is for cat lovers and readers who want to see a sweet relationship between an older (human) brother and his baby sister. Nekota’s high school friend is a little obsessed with his sister tho, but it hasn’t exactly gone into creepy territory yet. Hope it stays that way.
The worldbuilding consists of anthropomorphic cats living amongst human beings. In Nekota's case he was adopted by a cat family, but I don't know if that's the standard. There's a preschool boy in Neneko's class that had a cat older brother too and no one bats an eye. Is that kid adopted too or can some cat family have human kids??? I'm thinking way too much into this. Just accept the world as it is.

I’m just not interested in the idol/superstar + fangirl aspect, so I won’t be continuing this story.
But I like that Kouta has some depth. It’s very apparent he’s dealing with low self-esteem, grief, and people-pleasing tendencies. He plasters a smile on his face to his own detriment at times. It’s fairly realistic that even with Sahoko trying to affirm him that he doesn’t believe it (just yet).
Sahoko is fine to just stay in the background as his forever fan and emotional pick-me-up, knowing deep down she can’t be content subduing her feelings for him forever. But mainly she's just boring.
Still, pretty cute overall for someone looking for a lighthearted read.
