A fairly cute origin story for Dinah Lance as the Black Canary. I think kids will enjoy the quick pacing and super cute illustrations. Here, Dinah has to come to terms with her power and juggle music. Some suspension of belief is needed because it gets quirky at times, i.e when Wildcat shows up, the big bad reveal, etc. I also found her friends very bland and unmemorable.

I immediately liked the watercolor, coffee-stained illustrations. You can tell a lot of thought was put into the characters' designs and color scheme. The adventure is all here with moving levers and clockwork, baddies, and two wholesome kiddies trying to save the day. But, sometimes, movement is difficult to follow, and I lacked a connection with the characters. I didn't feel any emotion at all.

the random robot part was cool.

Although the loose ends are tied, the ending felt abrupt to me.

Wow, this series actually took an interesting turn, one straight out of a soap opera but interesting nevertheless. I’m glad since this series has been dry for the last few volumes to me. I’m curious how the last scene ends. Also, Ten’s skirt in those last scenes was so pretty! The way her skirt folded looked so elegant.

I really enjoyed the unlikely friendship and the message:

we all have problems. Just because you’re going through something, doesn’t mean it’s okay to hurt someone else. Also, everyone could use a friend!

. The artwork is cute and the parents aren’t unreasonable here.

Incredibly depressing and chaotic with a crisp narrative voice. Laura embodies the struggle of being a teenager with ideas and concerns but struggling to be heard by adults and others around her. She is at an age where she’s questioning everything like her belief in God and her survival. I generally hate dystopian settings, but this one was so immersive and realistic that I couldn’t put it down. Personally, I didn’t care for the art style.

This is story is very bleak and brutal, so I would only recommend this for mature teens.
