“I see you […] And it does not frighten me” (pg 280).This is still a fun series, and I absolutely love the increased focus on Feyre’s sisters. I enjoy reading about the fire that is Nesta and the sweet breeze that is Elain. Also, I like seeing disagreements and familial moments with the Inner Court. I’m definitely not complaining about Lucien redemption either!
I think this book showed an excellent view of how war affects people, the common people, the ones fighting on the front lines, and the ones making the decisions.
Now, for the negatives, Feyre has too many doggone powers, and she can

Isn’t this creeping into mary-sue territory? Nerf her powers like Ash’s pikachu at the start of a new region. And the sex scenes are too cringy; they are not sexy at all. I don’t know what happened to them from book one, but I find myself skipping through them.
Overall, the nature of Sarah Maas’ books usually take me a while to finish. But I was thoroughly interested in the story, so I finished it rather quickly. Never did I wish for things to wrap up like I did for book 2.

I enjoy the characters so much in this little quasi-NY city they live in and all the various monster lore. We get some hints to Margo's backstory and the beginnings of a cat-and-mouse chase. There's a mysterious Eldritch Truth that's drumming up trouble for all monster-kind and Margo and Charles. Can't wait for more!
I liked the familial moments between Veda and Assembly and the stark contrast when the Gremlin takes over parenting (in a way). I thought the premise was really unique and interesting and I liked the usage of symbols, but I didn't really care about Veda (I didn't dislike her either) and the ending confused me a bit.

Listen. Since I was a little girl, I have always enjoyed Princess/royalty stories. I love the cliche "knight protects his princess," and they fall in love stories (like that Link and Zelda feel!). They're so good I want to spread them thick over wheat bread and make a sandwich. Sleepless is no different.
Yessssss! I really enjoyed this book. The artwork is beautiful, likable, diverse characters (I was surprised that Poppy's mixed), and the entire lore about sleepless knights leaves me wanting more. The political plot is also nicely-executed. I like that Poppy is both vulnerable and feisty, you know a multi-faceted character. And she wears a headwrap to bed. Nice.
Also, give me more Poppy and Cyrenic! That cliffhanger was no joke!

I will say I wish Princess Rellen wasn't so prominent. The entire situation reminds of the Princess and the Frog/Charlotte fiasco. Poppy could be just as interesting without her. I don't want her to divert the spotlight.
Anyway, read it. I'm going to add this first volume to my bookshelf.

Attack of the 50 Foot Wallflower is thoroughly weird, slow, and entertaining and should appeal to any lover of sci-fi oldies.
Phoebe's narrative is believable and relatable, every man in this book is a creep and you feel as uncomfortable as Phoebe, but for the American 1950/1960's era there really was no mention of racism save for a "no coloreds" sign. All of Phoebe friends and family are really open-minded besides thinking that Native-Americans are "godless and sinful." Okay ... What I'm trying to say is you have to have some suspension of belief. I'm just surprised Phoebe didn't have any preconceived notions about different races and a blink-and-you-miss-it reference to gayness .
Anyway, the "4th-wall breaking" magical being, her dad, controlling the world through the TV remote is unique. That premise kept me interested through all the long drawn-out eating binges. I have never been so tired of reading about someone eating. I think my favorite part of this story is the familial relationship Phoebe and her mother have and how it contrasts with her other family members. *wink*
Another great part is the backstory of a character named Lear. It's dark and really made me feel for this character. The added surprise of the comic book strips was welcomed! A great way to tell Lear's story in a different medium. I hadn't been expecting that.
Overall, it was good. Sometimes, Beth seemed a little too perfect and her story's a little open-ended she's from the future??? , and I don't really care too much about the forced Phoebe/Lear connection . Still, a nice change of pace from other YA stories with a cool cover.
