This series is so sweet and utterly wholesome it should cause cavities all around. Even through the adorable slice of life moments, we get slithers of Kanda’s past. In this volume, he has a panic attack when an event triggers him. The world also expands a bit more as a new character gets added.

A Man & His Cat is such a mood pick-upper. After reading this, you leave feeling light and fluffy like you’re Fukumaru.

Really good! I enjoyed Miles and Rhys. They felt like real middle-school kids. I also loved their families, and how it acknowledges the landscape of videogames and middle-school friendships is mch different now. It's hard to compare it to the olden days.

Now, the story resolutions were half-baked:
All is given rather quickly. There's no real apology, and Miles never explicitly realizes the kids he tryna kiss up to aren't real friends. Real friends don't put you up to bullying, make you feel small for not doing something, or disparage something you enjoy that's not harmful.

There's a second book coming, so hopefully those issues get address there.

”My family has always favored good sentence structure over good bone structure."

The artwork is beautiful! So often, writers like to make their main characters love writing. In this case, Mary comes from a long line of famous, women writers, but she wants nothing to do with writing. I enjoyed reading this.

It's been so long since I've watched Adventure Time closely. I'm multiple seasons behind though I did watch the finale. More importantly, this is set after the finale with enough context clues to catch you up if you didn't watch it.

I really enjoyed the story where Finn contemplates about the meaning of home and where he belongs. His slang kept taking me out a bit, but I remember when Finn used to say "mathematical" or "algebraic," so I'm not familiar with his newer lingo. I also like Marceline's development. She's gotten way more mature than when she first started out.

The illustrations are lovely, and the male lead (and his friends) are wonderfully wholesome and caring. Jo’s grandma certainly did not care because Jo was up and down town with people I don’t even know if her grandma knew. Still, these are some kind, well-adjusted high schoolers because most are not going to take interest in a middle-schooler they are not mentoring, related to, or is one of their friend’s siblings.

Anyway, I thought the story felt thin. Although Jo’s wanting to make friends and being bullied are relatable, I didn’t care about her. Rus’ concerns about paying for college were also relatable. The ending felt too good to be true
it would’ve been more realistic if he had won a scholarship than a suitcase of money. I mean there was no foreshadowing for it.

Overall, a great lighthearted read!

You would think with this premise, it’s a joke. But no, this story plays it straight. Characters die, stuff gets gory, and there’s a real threat of life and death. If you ever wanted to see a hamster wielding a machine gun loaded with marbles, here ya go.

The art style isn’t the most appealing to me, but the color direction and story shows the amount of effort put into this.

I loved the language-learning process. The idea to use hashtags for words/phrases Ana doesn’t understand was great. Even when you think you’ve reached a level of fluency, there’s something you won’t understand.

Overall, I liked this story. It’s lighthearted and sweet. You already know what’s going to happen, but I still enjoyed getting there.

A fitting conclusion to the Riku-family drama! Ten is basically nonexistent in what was originally her series, and I'm glad about it. I thought this manga was bland as dirt when it began, but, when it turned telenovela, things got good.
that ending? is there about to be a love scene, hmm?

I'm excited for the final volume
