A bit unsettling, but intriguing all the same. I really don’t want this series to stop. There’s excellent creepiness and lore building up. I also liked more backstory with Sharon, the stepmom.

You gotta have major suspension of disbelief, but this is fairly cute. Loved the artwork.

There’s a lot going on, and I don’t feel we get a chance to bond with any of the kids though Doyle’s my favorite. Some of that might be due to having to focus on 11 students. The pacing is very fast in this story, and things are messy. I dig the art style, but some of the drawings are blurry, especially in the face. Still, the ending is interesting though, so I would read a volume two if my library gets it.
Since introductions are out of the way, maybe volume two will be better.

Charming. I liked how Emoni did not have the stereotypical, pregnant teenage mother story we’re accustomed to seeing in media.

Like I said about the previous book, all the Shakespearean speech can be a challenge (or deterrent) for younger readers, but the story’s still charming. Good message!

I don’t even know what’s going on anymore.
In the author’s afterword, she reveals the story has been so rushed with the pacing because it was originally supposed to only run for 3 volumes unless there was demand. I can’t ignore the jerky, whiplash pacing though.
