Stephen King is a mastermind of weaving horrific and terrifying stories giving us the most infamous titles in the modern day media. Stephen King may be a master and talented writer, but I just have a hard time reading through his works consistantly. His novels are tremedously long and lack a good pace. For me, his ideas for novels are breathtaking, but his actual writting takes patience and time I don't really have to read. Add a slow-paced writing with a disapointing plot and you have Bag of Bones. I love Stephen King, I really do, and I hate to say anything bad about him, but Bag of Bones was such a disappointment to me. And afterwards, I watched the A&E's take on the novel and it was just so awful. Unless you are a very patient and have a curious mid that takes you far into the pages of a boring novel, I don't recommend this book to anyone unless you are a true fan of King's work.

I enjoyed this book, sort of. I really loved the stories, one of my favorite being the story of Martha Hill and her creepy painting. The stories are vivid with history and horror, but some times the writing felt a little repetative. The book was more like an ad for tourism than a passion for the paranormal. And I really hated it at the end hen it totally got off subject of ghosts and southern spirirts and began talking of UFO's (I can't stand aliens). So the last two stories I skipped altogether for the most part. But I give it three stars because the history was rich and the spookiness of these strange, mysterious places make me want to visit the south really, really badly.
