Biased should be required reading for everyone! Lately, I've been digging into my biases and how they inform how I navigate the world. I only wish there was a children's/middle-grade version of this book. Is there one out there? Please LMK so I can read it aloud and discuss implicit bias in my 6th gr privileged classroom.
White Fragility is an essential read or listen, for all white people. After listening to the audiobook, I'm ordering the physical book to keep in my classroom for colleagues to borrow. My eyes and ears are open! I'm committed to learning more about my racist patterns and how they inform who I am as an educator, friend, and human being.
”I don’t have to create space. I only have to learn to turn my attention to it. Holding space means that I am noticing when I get distracted and start reacting to things and in doing so losing the sense of spaciousness in my mind and the capacity to allow everything to be. Without this training, it becomes very difficult to work with tough emotions like anger.”~ Lama Rod Owens
Skill in Action should be on the required reading list of all yoga teacher training. An important read for yoga teachers and those thinking about teacher training.
