Oh my god oh my god oh my god. Or should I say oh my goddess?
I absolutely adored this book, from the hate-to-love romance to the Church-and-witches dynamic, from the low-key sacrilege to that one smutty scene, from the hilarious main character to the action-packed story. I could not put it down, even though it was over 500 pages!

This book. Blew me to pieces. I didn't want to die, but I did. I wanted to cry, and fortunately, I did. So thank you, Holly?

Marie Lu's fourth book in the Legend series was, I have to admit, unnecessary. I loved having Eden's perspective and the exploration of Antarctica's levels system and subsequent corruption, but the book was slow and I didn't feel as attached to the characters. It still was a good book though! I highly recommend it if you are a Marie Lu fan.

This book is an excellent story of revenge, desperation, forbidden love, and politics...everything we YA fantasy readers love! I've not read The Count of Monte Cristo which this is a retelling of, so I can't speak of how good/true a retelling it is, but one it's own it definitely kept me interested until the end, with both POVs (which for me, is rare to have equal interest in the POVs). I can't wait for this book to come out, and for its sequel!

Night Spinner, a retelling of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, is a unique take on a typical YA fantasy plot concept (I find that many retellings do this instead of following the typical plot tropes). There were, however, many inspirations taken from YA fantasy characters and the later plot tropes. Think: Grishaverse. Which isn't necessarily a problem, if you love the Grisha trilogy. I actually really loved this book because I found none of the characters to be completely trustworthy (including the protagonist), which keeps you on the edge of your seat at all times. I put the fact that this book was a retelling out of my head and stopped trying to see the parallels, which made it all the more enjoyable, especially when it came to the twists and turns. It has pros and cons, but I think the world is unique and fascinating, the plot moves quickly, and the romance (because every female YA fantasy protagonist has one) doesn't take over.

not much plot, but an enjoyable book for fans of padme!
