This book tells the story of four Chinese mothers and their four Chinese American daughters. It's a beautiful story of love, family, culture, tradition, and change. Everyone should read this book. Also, watch the movie, it'll make you cry.

I'd forgotten how much I loved my dear Aleksander... My boy better be represented well in the Netflix show or I swear I WILL riot.

Just like I forgot how much I love Aleks, I forgot how much I get annoyed with Mal.

He was ancient, I knew that. But in this moment he was just a boy -brilliant, blessed with too much power, burdened by eternity.

How can a book screw your emotions over for 48 hours and it's your 4th time reading it? Also I never realized how damn quotable it is, like there's a memorable phrase EVERY THREE PAGES.
This is my first time reading this since King of Scars came out, and now the whole ending of this book is shaped differently to me. It's so weird.
Now if you excuse me, I'm, going to go read Darklina (alarkling) fanfiction now...

Middle of the road YA fiction, I guess? Not really anything memorable about it, and I won't be continuing with the series (duology?). I found the characters annoying and boring, the tropes used infuriating, and though the concept was good, it wasn't enough to make up for the mediocre rest of the book.
