I just couldn't get into it, where is the character growth?

An Alpha that shouldn't be and a Alpha female that wants more control...abuse and power struggles and in the end a loss.
Started off pretty good and then just went meh. So skipped and read the ending
yawn and then it went and ended on a cliffhanger...yes i skipped to the end
