A slight DNF for now. I might go back with either ebook or hybrid read. I wasn't paying a lot of attention and most of the characters felt... The same
Was debating whether to DNF this or not and then they slam a 5 year time jump and I just 🙄 couldn't I guess 🤣
Dnfing. The first book was good and then.... Idk. All the characters feel the same? Like I had to wait for someone to say their name to remind myself "oh yes, it's Altair rn not Nasir" and etc.
should've dnfed earlier as I finally realised I wasn't following along at all
i thought this would be cool but meh. I'll watch the movie
Sometimes I do get those books where I think I might be able to push through and finish it. This was looking to be one of those books. I finally decided to just dnf it because like the others – I wasn’t paying attention to anything. When I do that then I know I should dnf. I sort of liked the main character but that quickly stopped. I don’t think? I saw a vampire which is sad because it’s literally a vampire book.
I could’ve probably finished this one as I was 72% far and I think my Kindle said like 20 or so minutes left. I just … didn’t have much interest for anything. I kept noticing that, quite often, the wording and structure of the sentences were odd and meant they didn’t flow properly (in my opinion). I didn’t see the chemistry between the two main characters and it was very instalove and didn’t work out for me.
I really hope this would be up my alley but unfortunately it wasn’t ticking the boxes for me. I’m going to be picky about this but there were too many “’twas” and “betwixt”. I don’t mind them if they’re used sparingly but it felt like every other page (it wasn’t actually) and it just started to spoil my reading of it.
I did try to like the characters but they weren’t working for me. It felt like the author was trying to hard – forcing the banter, forcing their chemistry. So I decided to dnf before I got too far.

I did try with this one – pushing all the way until halfway until I finally decided that slogging through wasn’t worth it. It’s extremely slow-paced, which wasn’t the big issue, but the writing was stiff, which I think added to the slow feeling. I also thought the book would be totally different based on the synopsis but maybe I read that wrong? Unfortunately I didn’t have access to the audio as I might’ve managed to finish it that way. I liked the writing but not enough to finish it – as you can see here.
I sort of liked the plot but I think it was just too slow for my liking and I couldn’t see myself pushing just for the plot’s sake.
