I wasn't as impressed with this beginning of the Snicket series as I thought I might be, based on opinions around the globe concerning the Baudelaire children, but that isn't necessarily indicative of my intentions towards the series because if this first novel does anything, it's to stir up an appetite for more. I do enjoy the writing style of the author, whomever he is, and I'm hoping the subsequent books offer up more in the way of charming adventures.
