I was not sure what to expect going into this one. I do read middle grade books frequently as part of our homeschooling adventures so I jumped at the chance to get this one. This definitely gave me Harry Potter vibes. My son is not quite to that reading level yet but this one he could definitely handle. It’s an interesting story with a cliffhanger ending. Of course there are more in the series, which is helpful for the continuation of the story. I definitely believe that middle grade readers would love this. It explores the magical realm through a young girl that was unaware she had magical powers of her own before she left the place she’d been living in as long as she can remember. There are twists and turns, friendships, enemies, school drama, love interests - it’s a great read!

Wow. Just wow. This book is one of those books that will make you think. It touches on a little bit of everything. It really dives in to the severity of racism and how different groups are affected by it. This book is one that I will be thinking about for some time.

I always wondered what was going on in Edwards head while I was reading the original twilight series. This book gave me the inside look that I always wanted. It’s a good book and adds to the story but it really only adds Edwards thoughts and I was hoping for more of a look into the twilight vampire world than what was given. 

Having watched the Netflix show, I loved this book! Taking the time to figure out who is who between the show and the book was really interesting! There were of course differences and similarities but overall it was pretty close. I really enjoyed hearing the real story of Piper!

This has been on my TBR for quite some time. When I saw this was my textbook for one of my classes I was so excited! I bought this immediately and had to force myself not to just start and finish it immediately. It’s definitely educational about the minds of those with psychopathy but I do feel that some of it was strictly the authors opinion.
