I had purposely put off reading anatomy because I heard a book two was coming. When I spotted it on NetGalley I requested it immediately- receiving the audiobook was the best!

This story is a great one. It’s a fantasy story with plenty of realistic historical aspects to it. I absolutely stories of women breaking into the medical field and this one did not disappoint. It took that storyline and added the perfect twist - immortality!

The narrator was great and kept the story going even during the parts that weren’t incredibly interesting. I listened to this in just over a day and I didn’t want to stop once I started it.

Definitely recommend this duology. It’s amazing.

This was much more interesting than I expected it to be! While I was definitely sure it was one I was going to enjoy, I was not planning to enjoy it as much as I did!

The story is one that we’ve all heard a few times - it’s a missing child mystery. The route this one takes is different than usual and makes it a unique story.

I received the audio through NetGalley and the narrator did a great job with it. The tone was set and continued throughout, which also kept the pacing up.

Detectives. Football players. Mafia connections. This book has it all!

We follow Colton and Xavier as they meet and then fall in love with each other. There’s a lot of drama packed into this tiny novella. It was actually quite surprising.

The nice thing is that the story wrapped itself up at the end. I gotta say there are plenty of time jumps in this meaning that the few chapters cover quite a span of time. There are characters from other series from this author that make an appearance and that made me very happy! It was unexpected and I loved it. I can’t wait to see what’s next.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I don’t know if it’s the audio I didn’t care for, the fact that this is book 3 of a series so I don’t have the character connections I needed or a combination of both but I just really didn’t care for this one.

I read another book by this author last year and remembered enjoying it. When I saw this on NetGalley I was beyond excited. However, this just wasn’t it for me. I found I had little to no connection with the characters and I honestly just didn’t care what happened.

The audio didn’t hold my attention either - I found myself needing to back track several times and I’m convinced I still missed things. This just isn’t for me - and that’s okay!

I definitely enjoyed this addition to the story we were left with in Ninth House! Hell Bent takes on a trip to hell and back - and not figuratively either. It’s such an interesting story!
fast-paced

I really enjoyed the first story of Josh and Gemma and finding out that there was a second was exciting for me! I was curious what the second time around would entail and it was something!

Get ready for a roller coaster. Right away from the beginning I recognized the symptoms that Gemma was presenting with and I found myself absolutely terrified for her. My brain went to a more sci-fi type place which would have made no sense with the book at all but once the story got going it flowed so well and really grasped the difficulties that relationships go through. So many ups and downs for Josh and Gemma - it’s a really good story.

I received an audiobook through NetGalley and I enjoyed that as well. The quality was great and the narrator knocked it out of the park!

My take for this one:

The format was odd for me - it’s set up as several books in one rather than just being one cohesive story. While it was plenty cohesive and definitely just one story, the way it was formatted really took away from that. It was interesting and I can see how it could be enjoyable but it’s a no thanks for me.

Also super hella wordy for no reason. In the very beginning we’re informed this is a grandfather writing down a story for his granddaughter- so I do understand the overly long and wordy story as this is how many grandparents tell their stories - with all of the words and all of the details regardless of their overall relevance to the big picture. So while I expected it I’m still not here for that. I prefer concise stories.

However - all that said I did very much enjoy this story. The cliffhanger ending is just incredibly annoying as there isn’t more to the story available. I knew it was there and expected it, but still…ima need more of it.

I love ghost stories. I love historical fiction. This book brings those two together in a way that I really did enjoy. I even found it relatively easy to look past the wordiness which is difficult for me.

This book was one heck of a roller coaster. It deals with many pretty serious topics while managing an overall lighthearted feel.

I honestly feel like most of what I want to say is a spoiler so I think I’m just going to leave it with this :

This book has the absolute potential to hit all of the feels. All of them. If you like that in a book, this is absolutely for you! If you don’t, it might be rough. I personally am not typically one to enjoy books that attack my feels, but I really liked this one and how it was done.

I received an audiobook through NetGalley and the narrators were great. I’m a huge fan of having multiple narrators for multiple POVs and this audiobook delivers that.

I’m a sucker for mythological retellings and I gotta say, this take on Hades and Persephone might just be my favorite yet.

The way that the gods have appeared to seamlessly place themselves into the “real world” is fascinating to me. Since this book takes place in our world rather than the mythological ones we usually get with retellings, I find this to be different and fascinating.

Of course there’s a cliffhanger and that just kills me. I need to know what happens next - the journey to the cliffhanger was fantastic though.

Huge thank you NetGalley for the ebook!
