I’ll be honest, I don’t usually read manga. However, it was part of a reading challenge and this one was “read now” on NetGalley so I decided to give it a try.
The Count of Monte Cristo is a classic that I remember enjoying in the past and having it retold with these fantastic illustrations was great. The story was covered well and told in a way that holds the attention more than a classic writing style. So if you want to read the classics but can’t handle the style of the classics, give the manga versions a try! They’re solid!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ because it is a pain to read manga as an ebook since they start at the end - the app kept marking it as “complete” because I started at the typical end.

I love books like this. I’m always curious about how things such as a lie detector test came about - and this book definitely includes all of that. It’s not the content, but the execution that didn’t do it for me. It was honestly really boring.
This had the potential to be a thrilling and educational trip down history lane but instead it felt like sitting in class with a monotone professor that didn’t want to be there any more than you did.
I did receive the audiobook through NetGalley and I can’t blame the vibe on the narrator at all. He was anything but monotone, however the content of the story just FELT that way.

I read Reputation last year and when I saw this one I was very excited for another regency-esque book from this author. I gotta say though, this one didn’t hit as well as the other one did for me. I found myself less interested in the outcome and disconnected with the characters this time around. I didn’t actually care what happened with them - I still finished it but the story was just meh.
Thanks to NetGalley for the audiobook of this one!

I found this to be an incredibly interesting fantasy tale. Obviously it places its focus on witches and vampires and the way this book tells the tale of these supernatural beings is so interesting.
We have basically a tale of witches versus vampires. Vampires drink blood (because of course) and witches would prefer they stop drinking humans and witches (again, because of course) so naturally these beings don’t like each other much. However, there’s more to the story than meets the eye. Following friends from different sides, we unravel the true story of witches and vampires and join the fight to save the land.
Thanks to NetGalley for access to the audiobook and the ebook, I was able to enjoy this book in multiple formats. It was fast paced and interesting with plenty of action to hold the readers attention.

I knew this was going to be an adventure in hilarity and I was not disappointed. It definitely is. We get ups and downs surrounding career, friendships, family…basically life in general. It’s done in a way that shares the downs with a side of laughs and it feels like a real life walk down friendship lane with the main character.
Let’s write about our experiences with one night stands in search of our Prince Charming - and let’s write about them in the form of fairytales. This is absolute perfection on the comedy front. Going on these dates with her as well as watching her deal with the fallout of changes in her life is honestly amazing. She deals with everything in a human way. She isn’t constantly negative or unrealistically positive- she’s just human. And I appreciate that.
Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 - mostly because it was a bit longer than I felt was necessary.

This series is a go to happy read for me. While I know I shouldn’t automatically consider a book 5 stars based on the series it’s in, I haven’t met a dud! Also I don’t care - I love it.
