Got me out of a book slump 

My new favorite Emily Henry book. Loved both characters and their Sunday morning adventures.

“To stay political is a preoccupation of the privileged. An immigrant can be sad, hopeless, embittered, lost or angry - never articulate.” 
The only line in the book I truly enjoyed and resonated with. Other than that, the writing was beautiful but the dual storylines were choppy and confusing.

I want the biggest fan of the ending, but I’m crying at 3AM and have a big desire to be a teacher.

The HOA was the best part of the book

This was marketed to me as smut. It was not smut.

She got over the kidnapping and stalker part a little too quickly

A lot a lot a lot of smut plus a bit of trauma sprinkled in

I thought that Rafael’s previous trauma felt underdeveloped. It was talked about a lot but didn’t dive really deep into the nitty gritty. Same with Ellie’s. The first 50% of the book felt very slow as well.

I’m getting into mysteries so this was a hard one for me.
The first 75% of the book was very dialogue heavy, and there was little insight into what Hercule was thinking. Because of this, the story felt slow at first and boring. It was hard to distinguish any of the characters and their personalities. The last 25% of the book ramped up, but I guess because this book is so dialogue heavy and not much narrative that I felt it was lackluster.
