I tried.. I thought this was going to be a great seasonal dark romance, but the writing was just not good. So goddamn repetitive. I get it. they have monsters in their eyes. Their monsters recognize each other in their eyes. EYE MONSTERS.

The clown business was just.... not my jam. I really enjoyed the banter between the two main characters (love it, in fact), but the emphasis on Georgie's virginity and the clown business?? meh.

About 80% of the way through I kept putting the book down because I didn't want that thing to happen. and then it happened. And now I have all the feels.
This book was bonkers. Messed me up more than Gone Girl - It's been a week and I'm still thinking about how insane these characters are.
First book of 2020 and it was fantastic! 100% choosing a natural burial when I die (or an open air pyre if possible). Learning about death practices around the world was fascinating - 10/10 recommend. I also started following Doughty on IG, YouTube and have put her other two books on my reading list. THAT GOOD.
obsessed with this book. super quirky, want to be best friends with the MC.
NOPE NOPE NOPE. DNF'd at around 30% of the audiobook. Not at all what I was expecting. I hated ALL of the characters. Also, a dog torture section? no thank you.
