yes, i finished this book over a month ago. yes, i did /just/ decide on a rating for it. move along, move along. nothing to see here.

(2.5) i guess, the quote unquote vibes (™) were my favorite part of this reading experience. it's super dark and intriguing and i loved the premise, but i couldn't really get on board with a lot of the characters. many of them fell flat to me and a lot of this book has been overall unmemorable. maybe it's just a personal preference? idk, idk. however, i think this author will only get better in the future and i will probably read whatever she does next out of curiosity.

okay, that's all. WAIT!!!! the dark sapphics gahhh

yes, I did read this in a day instead of working on my english paper. oops. worth it though. and i love josh so much. what a precious king.

(3.5-4?) wow! SO excited to stay up late tonight, staring at my ceiling, just pondering what the f*ck happened in this book <3

this book somehow lands at 3 stars and 5 stars for me. for one, it is incredibly well written and the way Ishiguro packs so much repressed tension inside of a book is truly incredible. the writing is very patient and carefully paced and literally so perfect for this story!!

HOWEVER. it was so frustrating to me! i found myself not caring about the characters at times... perhaps because of how cold Stevens could be ?

i don’t know. maybe one day i’ll reread it when i’m older and really connect to the theme of the story and then i’ll be able to give it five stars. yeah, i think i'll make that a goal.

*whispers* listen the mc was a bit dramatic for my taste..... but british boys r cute so i had fun

miss dickinson, i love you so much wow
