Yellowface by RF Kuang
Out Now
After loving Babel, I was excited to see Kuang’s newest book being released this year.
Needless to say, I devoured this book. Loved the plot. Juniper stealing the work of Athena reminded me a bit of Maude Dixon. But while that one took us all over the place, Kuang used her knowledge of the publishing world and combined it with the Twitter culture of America.
Though a much different book than Babel, the writing was fabulous. But some will have to remember this book is extremely different. So if you’re looking for Kuang to have the same exact style in this one, leave those thoughts at the door.
Highly recommend this one!
Thank you to Celadon for a free advanced copy.
This was a solid sophomore novel for the author of A Nearly Normal Family (one my favs that year). Many perspectives and red herrings made me keep the pages turning.
I didn’t love this one as much as the ANNF, but I did enjoy this one and I really liked the ending!

Slow to start, but then going so fast I could not stop turning the pages. Really interestingly written. The ending was fantastic.
You've seen the reviews. You've seen the ratings. I agree with all of it.
This was a good one. Fast paced and I really needed to know how this one ended. Though I wanted to literally lose my own mind on the behavior of our main character at time, she was well written. Her anger issues made for an interesting storyline as this is not a common trait in female protagonists!
Personally for me, I found the red herrings being put out throughout the book didn't really convince me. Once we found out the one twist, you knew it had to be that.

I love reading all John Marr's books. I lean more towards his sci-fi ones. I really like this one. My biggest qualm was that it was a tad long.
Beautifully written. Loved the book within the book. And though I figured out a couple of the puzzle pieces, there were so many little ones I did not. Which made me love this story even more. I have only read Morton's last two novels, and will eventually get to her backlist. But she is officially on the auto buy going forward.
Thank you to the publisher for a free Netgalley.
I really enjoyed this one. The ending was quite satisfactory and I appreciated how it ended.
It did drag for a smidge as it began to feel a bit repetitive. But overall, recommend this one.

Well this was fun. After loving No Exit, and not enjoying Hairpin Bridge, I was excited to see Taylor Adams coming out with a new book.
This one did not disappoint. It was action packed and I could not turn the pages fast enough.
